Last night we did an activity with the boys to understand how we live in darkness until God brings us into his light. My husband and the boys read
The Lightlings
while I hid some "treasures" around the house.
The Lightlings
is an allegory written by R.C. Sproul (I highly recommend all his children's books) to help children understand the fall and our need for a savior. After we talked about the story and why we are in darkness without God, I told them they were to pretend they were the Lightlings trying to make their way in the world without God. We talked about how we can't find anything good--the eternal treasures, blessings and joys awaiting us without light from God.
So we walked around the house in pitch black darkness to see if we could find any "treasures." After discovering that it was impossible, I gave them small bibles to which I had attached flashlights.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 199:105. With the light of the word we were able to search the house and find all the hidden treasures.
"...God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. " 1 Timothy 6: 16-16.
May His word give you light for your path today and everyday!
